Quinton de Kock's 135 in this match is the highest score by a South Africa opener against India in ODIs, beating Graeme Smith's unbeaten 134 at Kolkata in 2005. This was also De Kock's highest ODI score and second ton; he has scored 514 runs at 38.14 in 14 innings.

The 141-run margin of win for South Africa in this match is their second-biggest against India in ODIs. Their 157-run win in Durban in 2006 is their biggest win against India. This was also the fourth-biggest win at the New Wanderers in ODIs. India's 183-run win against Sri Lanka in the 2003 World Cup is the biggest margin of win in terms of runs at this venue.

India conceded 135 runs in their last ten overs of the match, which is the most they have conceded in the last ten in ODIs since 2000. Including this match, India have conceded 100 or more runs in the last 60 balls, 19 times- the second-highest after New Zealand, who have done so on 21 occasions. India ended up conceding exactly 100 runs in the last six overs, only the fifth time a team has conceded 100 or more in ODIs during those overs since 2000.

The 152-run partnership between Hashim Amla and de Kock was South Africa's first century stand for the opening wicket in 69 ODIs. The last time South Africa's openers added 100 or more runs in an ODI was also against India, in Ahmedabad in 2010. South African openers have now hit nine century partnerships against India, the most against any team. The opening stand was also South Africa's fifth-highest against India in ODIs.

South Africa's opening century partnership was only their third at the New Wanderers in 28 ODIs, and their first on this ground since Herschelle Gibbs and Gary Kirsten added 112 runs for the first wicket, also against India in 2001.

AB de Villiers completed 1000 ODI runs in 2013 when he crossed 26 during his 47-ball 77. He is the seventh batsman this year to do so. De Villiers has scored 1051 runs at an average of 50.04, and at a strike rate of 96.15 in 20 matches this year.

The 46-ball 105-run stand between De Villiers and JP Duminy was South Africa's second-fastest partnership of 100 or more runs in ODIs, and their fastest against India. The 46 balls the pair took to reach their 100 is the seventh-fastest in ODIs.

Duminy's unbeaten 59 was his 18th ODI half-century and his fourth against India. Duminy scored from just 29 balls at a strike rate of 203.44, which is the fastest innings of 50 or more runs that Duminy has played in ODIs.

There were four scores of fifty-plus runs in South Africa's innings, which is only the tenth time that South Africa have had four of their batsmen scoring fifty or more runs in an ODI. Two of these occasions have come against India.

Dale Steyn continued his excellent form with yet another stellar bowling display in this match. Steyn has now taken three or more wickets in four consecutive ODIs. In the last four ODIs, he has taken 17 wickets at 7.17 runs apiece, at a strike rate of 13.0. Steyn bowled three maidens in this match, only the fourth time he has done so on ODIs.
