India v West Indies 2000-01

At Bulawayo, June 30

15-Apr-2002
At Bulawayo, June 30. India won by six wickets. Toss: India.
Their place in the final virtually assured, India rested Nehra. But their new opening pair, Mohanty and Harvinder Singh, enjoyed the early swing just as much. By the halfway mark, West Indies were five down with only 47 on the board, less than two an over. Samuels and Jacobs led a recovery, adding 72 in 15 overs, but the accurate Indian bowling allowed few liberties and a target of 170 was a weak challenge for their in-form batsmen. Yet they too started slowly. Cuffy bowled his now-familiar single miserly spell and by the 21st over India were 61 for three. Tendulkar, playing well within himself, took 47 balls over his first 19 runs, but once he opened up, scoring his next 62 from 63, victory was never in doubt. When it arrived, India still had six overs in hand.
Man of the Match: S. R. Tendulkar.
