BCCI to substitute Duckworth Lewis rain rule
The Board of Control for Cricket In India Technical Committee, headed
by former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, met in Pune on Tuesday to
deliberate on the irregularities existing in the Duckworth-Lewis rain
rule for the one dayers.
The committee deliberated for nearly two hours over the new rules
framed by the Kerala statistician Jayandra. The convenor of the BCCI
Technical Committee, JY Lele, said that the set of rules framed by
Jayendra is to be circulated to all the umpires in the country and
added that the same would also be the subject of discussion during the
umpires' seminar, scheduled to be held in September.
Lele said that the revised set of rules would then be sent to the
International Cricket Council which will in turn adopt the new format
of calculation for the limited overs games.
India Cements to sponsor Moin-ud-Dowla tourney
Former Indian off spinner and secretary of the Hyderabad Cricket
Association (HCA) Shivlal Yadav has said that India Cements would be
the official sponsors of the Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup and the local
league championship for the next three years.
Speaking to the press in Hyderabad, Yadav said that the sponsors have
also increased the sponsorship amount to Rs 15 lakhs from the existing
Rs 12 Lakhs. Yadav also revealed that the Moin-ud-Dowla tournament
would now be played on a league cum knock-out basis and that all the
matches would be played on a 50 overs a side basis and on turf
wickets.
Yadav revealed that the HCA has requested the BCCI to name the All
India under-14 tournament, which is to be conducted for the first time
this year, after the late ML Jaisimha.
BCCI gives financial aid to ailing Aibara
The secretary of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Shivlal Yadav
has said that the ailing former Hyderabad Ranji Trophy cricketer Eddie
Aibara has been awarded a financial aid of Rs 25,000 from the Board of
Control for Cricket in India.
The 87-year-old Aibara was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit of
the Mediciti hospital in Hyderabad on May 6 with heart and kidney
ailments and at the behest of the HCA, the BCCI have made the aid.
Aibara is the lone surviving member of the Hyderabad Ranji team of
1937-38 which won the trophy for the first time. After his playing
years were over, he had dedicated himself to the game as a coach. Some
of the Indian cricketing stalwarts like Sunil Gavaskar and ML Jaisimha
were at some point or the other coached by Aibara.
