Portals have to approach Prasar Bharati for coverage:
The president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), AC
Muthiah said in Chennai on Thursday that web portals seeking
accreditation for matches conducted by the BCCI, including the
Zimbabwe-India series, should approach the Prasar Bharti. "These
portals have to approach DD instead of BCCI", he stated.
Speaking to Press Trust of India (PTI) Muthiah said that the BCCI
could accredit only the print media (reporters and photographers) for
the matches as per the telecast agreement signed by the BCCI with
Prasar Bharti.
When it was pointed out that writers from cricket portals were
accredited by the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the
recently concluded KnockOut tournament in Nairobi, Muthiah said ``the
Board is not in a position to help in the matter as the contract was
signed sometime in October 1999.''
