Disciplinary committee meeting shifted back to Delhi:The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) disciplinary committee meeting to discuss the Madhavan report on the match-fixing scandal has been shifted back to New Delhi from Calcutta on the request of the players.
BCCI vice-president CK Khanna, a member of the committee, told PTI on Sunday in Delhi that on a request made by the five tainted players to the Board the venue has been shifted back to the capital and is to be held on November 28.
The three member committee, after hearing the five players - Mohd Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, Nayan Mongia, Manoj Prabhakar and Ajay Sharma - will finalise its report and present it before the Special General Body of the Board which meets in Calcutta on November 29. The committee comprises of AC Muthiah, Ram Prasad and Kamal Morarka.
Orissa Cricket Association rewards SS Das with cash award
No sooner had SS Das scored his maiden Test century against Zimbabwe in Nagpur, the Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) promptly announced a cash award of Rs one lakh.
The secretary of the (OCA), Ashirbad Behera who faxed a congratulatory message to the diminutive looking opening batsman, said that it would be recorded for ever in Orissa's cricketing history. He added ``It is definitely a proud moment not only for OCA but the entire cricket loving people of Orissa.''
Das is only the second cricketer from the state to represent the country in Tests - the first one being medium pacer Debasish Mohanty - and the first to hit a century at that level. All-rounder Sanjay Raul had played for the country in one-day matches.
Aashish Kapoor to lead Tamil Nadu against Kerala
The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) in an official press release said that the former Indian offspinner Aashish Kapoor has been named skipper of the Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy team for the forthcoming South Zone League match against Kerala at Ernakulam from November 29 to December 2.
The team: Aashish Kapoor (captain), S Sharath, S Badrinath, Reuben Paul (wicketkeeper), S Mahesh, T Kumaran, Rajat Bhatia, W D Balaji Rao, M R Srinivas, Vidyuth Sivaramakrishnan, J R Madanagopal, C Hemant Kumar, R Satish, Vasanth Saravanan, R Ramkumar. Manager: KS Srinivasan; Coach: K Bharat Kumar.
The Joint Secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), Praveen Barve said on Saturday that wicketkeeper Sameer Dighe will be leading the Mumbai team for their first two matches in the Ranji Trophy.
Mumbai are slated to take on Gujarat in their opening game at the Wankhede Stadium from December 2 to 5 while the second encounter against Saurashtra is to played at Gandhigram from December 8 to 11.
