Delhi lad Gautam Gambhir and local boy Vinayak Mane are among the fourteen
under-19 boys called for the selection of the Indian team for the three `Test'
matches against the touring England under-19 team at the Wankhede Stadium on
January 7, 2001.
Apart from Gambhir and Mane, the junior selection committee has also called five
boys from Haryana, two from Vidarbha, one each from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka,
Gujarat, Baroda and Saurashtra, a BCCI release said in Mumbai on Thursday.
None of the these boys are in the under-19 Rest of India team which will play a
three-day match against the visitors at the MIG Club in Mumbai from January 4-6.
The junior selection committee, under the chairmanship of Rajinder Goel, will
watch the boys at the selection trials, apart from watching the Rest v. England
under-19 tie, before naming the Indian under-19 team for the three `Test'
matches.
The first `Test' will be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from January
9-12, followed by the second at Chennai (January 20-23) and the third and
final `Test' at Hyderabad from January 27-30.

Ratra, Amit Misra and Nitin Agarwal (all Haryana), Alind Naidu and Amit
Deshpande (both Vidarbha), Gautam Gambhir (Delhi), Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan (TN),
Deepak Chougle (Karnataka), Vinayak Mane (Mumbai), Sidharth Trivedi (Gujarat), H
Bachani (Baroda) and Jaydev Shah (Saurashtra).
