Inexperience cost Hong Kong the chance of a morale-boosting victory as they slumped to a 3 run loss to the Second Division MAC Foundation XI in the fourth match of their tour of Chennai.
Hong Kong bowled well to restrict the hosts to 218-9 from their 45 overs with the spinners Ilyas Gul, Nadeem Ahmed and Najeeb Amar excelling. Najeeb claimed the best figures of 3-39 from his seven overs.
In reply, Hong Kong made a good start and were strongly placed to achieve their first victory on tour with Butt Hussain batting strongly. But from 208-4, Hong Kong collapsed to 215-9, losing five wickets for just seven runs, including four run outs. Hussain was left stranded on 80 not out. He and his teammates would have been left wondering how this match slipped away.
