Damien Martyn, the Australian batsman, hopes to be fit for next month's Chappell-Hadlee one-day series in New Zealand despite breaking a finger in a domestic game.
Martyn, 34, suffered the injury to the fourth finger of his right hand while fielding for Western Australia last Saturday. He has been told by medics that the fracture may take two to three weeks to heal, and this would make his selection for the one-day series a tight call.
Australia will play three games in New Zealand on December 3, 7 and 10, and Martyn is eager to make the trip after losing his place in the Test side following a disappointing Ashes tour of England this summer.
Martyn has played 184 limited overs internationals, scoring 4,691 runs at an average of 41, including five centuries and 31 fifties.
