Israel lost their third straight match at the European T20 Championship in Jersey, this time a defeat to Germany in a match which was carried over from yesterday due to rain. As was the case in their opening two games against Denmark and Jersey, Israel batted first, and although they managed a much improved performance with the bat, scoring 138 for six, dropped catches and missed run outs in the field cost the Israelis dearly as Germany reached their target inside 17 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Israel got their innings off to a perfect start, openers Yefet Nagavkar (24) amongst the runs and Daniel Hyman the mainstay of the innings with a quickfire 51. Although there were only minimal contributions thereafter, a score of 138 was certainly defendable, even more so when three early breakthroughs left Germany 31 for three and Israel well on top. However two dropped catches and missed run out opportunities were to cost Israel dearly, as both German batsmen who had received let off's scored undefeated half centuries, putting on an undefeated 109-run partnership for the fourth wicket which gave their team a comfortable victory in the end.
