The controversy over Ajay Jadeja's inclusion in the North Zone team
for the Deodhar trophy matches has taken a new turn as the Jammu and
Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has come out in the open about
Jadeja being registered with it.
Confirming the registration of Jadeja with the JKCA, Ajatshatru Singh,
President of the Association, who is also the Information and
Transport Minister of the state, said Jadeja was registered with the
Association in October last year soon after he disassociated himself
from the Haryana Cricket Association. This was done after he gave his
consent in writing to represent the J & K team in the Ranji Trophy
Championship. However, due to his pre-occupation with international
cricket he could not play for the state team.
Romesh Mahajan, Chairman of the State selection team said that it is
unfortunate that Jadeja was dropped earlier only because he was not
registered with any cricket association. The association is peeved
over the fact that despite his registration with the JKCA, Jadeja's
inclusion in the Zonal team for the Deodhar Trophy was objected to by
certain officials.
