Jagadeesh stars in dramatic tie

VA Jagadeesh managed to carry his bat with a responsible 95, enabling Kerala to pull off a thrilling tie against Hyderabad at Uppal. Chasing 226 to win, Kerala were in a spot at 90 for 4 but Jagadeesh, along with valuable support from PA Manikandan (29) and Vinan Nair (26) made a fist of the tense chase. Earlier, Hyderabad had reached 225 thanks largely to cameos from Ambati Rayudu, Anirudh Singh and Arjun Yadav.

Mumbai 308 (Jaffer 102, Muzumdar 77) beat Saurashtra 226 (Kotak 65, Nayar 6-28) by 82 runs

Wasim Jaffer's century and a six-wicket haul from Abhishek Nayar helped Mumbai to an 82-run win with a bonus point over Saurashtra in the West Zone one-dayer at the Wankhede Stadium. Saurashtra won the toss and inserted the hosts, but Jaffer was just too good on Valentine's Day, notching up his second limited-overs hundred with 13 fours and one six. He first added 85 with wicketkeeper Sushant Marathe (39) and then 145 for the third wicket with Amol Muzumdar (77) as Mumbai piled up 308 for 7. In reply, Saurashtra folded in the 44th over with Nayar, 23, picking up career-best figures of 6 for 28 to cause a collapse from 205 for 5 to 226 all out.

Karnataka 244 for 8 (Rowland 97, Chougule 83) beat Andhra 160 (Rao 45, Raghu 3-34) by 84 runs

Barrington Rowland and Deepak Chougule starred in Karnataka's comprehensive 84-run victory over Andhra at Secunderabad. After being put into bat, Karnataka were wobbling at 40 for 3 in the 13th over when Chougule joined Rowland. The pair added 171 for the fourth wicket and the Andhra bowlers were unable to dislodge the pair for the next 30 overs. Both were unfortunate to miss out on a ton - Rowland fell three runs short while Chougule scored 83. Syed Sahabuddin and Venugopal Rao took three wickets each for Andhra.

In reply, Andhra were tied down by the spinners - Sunil Joshi and C Raghu - who shared six wickets between them and as a result, failed to bat out their 50 overs. Rao resisted with 45 but when he was dismissed, his side had already lost seven wickets with less than 100 on board.

Tamil Nadu 264 for 9 (Vijay 98, Bandekar 3-50) beat Goa 250 (S Asnodkar 104, R Asnodkar 74, Kumaran 5-37) by 14 runs

Tamil Kumaran's five-wicket haul helped Tamil Nadu sneak home by 14 runs at Secunderabad, despite a determined 104 by Swapnil Asnodkar. He and Rohit Asnodkar kept Goa in the hunt in their chase of 265 with a stand of 161 for the third wicket, but Tamil Nadu clawed back courtesy a wicket burst by seamers Kumaran and C Ganapathy to wrap up the innings for 250. Earlier, Tamil Nadu were propelled by a quick-fire 98 by opener Murali Vijay. Vijay and fellow opener Ramaswamy Prasanna got the side off the a solid start, adding 83. Vijay scored nine fours and a six in his knock.

Baroda 276 for 8 (Yousuf 93) beat Gujarat 229 for 8 by 47 runs

Yousuf Pathan's 67-ball 93, including 11 fours and two sixes, inspired Baroda to a 47-run win over Gujarat at the Brabourne Stadium. Irshad Sindhi and Pinal Shah chipped in with vital 40s but it was Pathan's assault which boosted Baroda to 276. Gujarat were on target early in their innings - and were 91 for 2 in the 20th over - but Rakesh Patel and Pathan grabbed two wickets with the ball to seal the issue. It was Baroda's first win in the competition and Gujarat continued to languish at the bottom of the table.
