The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to abolish its junior
selection committee that was headed by former captain Zaheer Abbas.
Instead, the committee of Wasim Bari has been assigned the task of
looking after the selectorial process of the junior teams.
The junior selectors, barring Zaheer, were paid employees of the board
like Aqib Javed, Shafiq Ahmad and Mohsin Khan (national selectors).
The decision to abolish the junior selectors was taken at a meeting held
at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by Lt Gen
Tauqir Zia.
However, in the backdrop of increased work, the PCB decided to add more
selectors in Bari's panel.
Meanwhile, the training camp for the Pakistan cricket team for August's
tri-nation tournament in Tangier is likely to start here in the second
week of July.
Off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq and allrounder Abdul Razzaq have been
exempted from the camp but will be available for selection.
