Ian Chappell has increased his lead over Sambit Bal and Sanjay Manjrekar has broken the No. 4 jinx to move to No. 3 - both courtesy Matthew Hayden's performance last night.
The first game, between the Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, was a low-scoring affair - both in terms of runs and points. The common trump pick for Ian, Sambit and Sanjay - Yusuf Pathan - fetched just 44 points. However, the big runs, and points, were made in the second game of the day, between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings.
Sambit went with Yuvraj Singh as his trump and earned 184 points. But the story of the day revolved around Hayden. His 89 runs, and Man-of-the-Match award meant that he gave a massive 402 points - one of the largest hauls by a trump so far - to Ian and Sanjay. This meant Ian's lead over Sambit jumped to 425 points - from 130 yesterday.
Despite having MS Dhoni as trump (220 points), David was unable to prevent Sanjay from moving in to No. 3. "Finally, one of my trump picks was right and I've moved up," says Sanjay. "It was just a question of that one big game. Another one today and hopefully my upward trend will continue."
