Andy Moles has signed a new two-year deal with Cricket Scotland after he failed to secure the director of coaching role at Warwickshire. Moles, 44, who played 12 seasons at Edgbaston, was on the shortlist for the county but lost out to Mark Greatbatch.
However he is excited about the chance to take the Scotland team beyond the 2007 World Cup in West Indies. He told the Herald newspaper: "It will be fantastic to see the job through by going to the West Indies.
"I told the lads after last Sunday's game (against Surrey) that it might be my last with them. However, I told them I'd also be delighted if it turned out that I was staying, and that's the way I feel now.
He admits that the Warwickshire job as an attractive proposition but also feels he has strong links to Scotland. "The Warwickshire job obviously appealed because of my ties there, but I would obviously have some regrets about leaving Scotland, especially after enjoying such a memorable summer with a great group of players."
Moles joined Scotland at the start of the year and guided them to the World Cup via the ICC Trophy Tournament in Ireland. He will now spend three months working on an ICC Academy programme in Pretoria. This consists of 20 players from the five World Cup qualifiers and includes eight from the Scotland squad.
