Tom Moody will remain as Worcestershire's director of cricket until the end of 2005 after he reached agreement with the county to extend his existing contract, which expires at the end of 2004, by one season.
"The club has made significant progress over the last three years but I want to see even more progress particularly if we gain promotion to the first division of the Frizzell County Championship," Moody said. "We have a talented group of players, some of whom are gaining international recognition, and I want to continue working with them. Add to this the talent we have in our academy and the future looks very bright."
Worcestershire also announced that they had reached agreement for Andrew Hall to return as one of their overseas players in 2004, subject to clearance from the South African board.
Mark Newton, Worcestershire's chief executive, said that with South Africa's schedule less crowded in 2004, Hall was a perfect choice. "We are delighted he has agreed terms for the season as he is clearly an exceptionally talented player."
