No draw at Durban since 2004

0 Home series lost by South Africa to teams other than Australia since England beat them 2-1 at home in 2004-05. Since then, South Africa have played 18 series at home and have won 12 of them. Australia have been the only team to beat them, winning series on three out of their four visits to this country. Apart from Australia, India and England have been the only teams to manage a drawn series in South Africa since 2004-05. South Africa's win-loss ratio at home in this period, though, ranks only sixth among the ten teams. Overall, apart from Australia, England are the only team to whom South Africa have lost a Test series at home.

The last time the hosts played against England in Durban, they lost by an innings and 98 runs. Apart from that Test, the three other Tests between the two sides in Durban since South Africa's readmission have ended in draws.

However, teams batting first at Kingsmead don't seem to be at a disadvantage with a win-loss record of 6-5 in Tests since 2000.

Hashim Amla is fifth on this list with 3361 runs and is 24 short of overtaking Gary Kirsten who is just above him.

32.63 Dale Steyn's bowling average in Tests against England - his worst against any opposition. Steyn has taken 46 wickets and two five-fors against them in 11 Tests. Among South Africa pacers to take at least 30 wickets against England, Steyn's average is the fourth worst. Also, Steyn has taken 227 wickets at home - the third-highest any bowler has taken in South Africa. Makhaya Ntini leads this list with 249 wickets followed by Shaun Pollock's 235.

19.92 Amla's batting average at Kingsmead in Tests; he has made 279 runs here from 14 innings including three half-centuries. Among batsmen with at least 5000 Test runs, Amla's average of 19.92 in Durban is the fifth-lowest at a venue with 10 or more innings. Amla, however, has done well in Tests against England having made 1104 runs at 52.57, with four hundreds - including a triple-hundred at The Oval in 2012 - and three fifties.

38.07 James Anderson's bowling average in Tests against South Africa - his worst against any team. Anderson has taken 57 wickets against them in 17 Tests. Among England bowlers with at least 50 wickets against an opposition, Anderson's bowling average against South Africa is the third-worst. Only Andy Caddick and Graeme Swann have done worse, both against Australia. Stuart Broad has 32 wickets in Tests against South Africa at 39.50. Steven Finn, who is the only other bowler in the current England squad to play against South Africa, has 10 wickets at 32.20, including the two four-wicket hauls he took at Lord's, which was the last Test between these two teams.
