No probe on bribery claims: Speed

MELBOURNE - Australian Cricket Board chief Mal Speed said today there would be no inquiry into reports from India that three Australians were involved in match-fixing.

He said the stories of players taking match bribes were just rumours and the ACB was not about to act on rumours.

An Indian journalist claimed to have seen a leaked police report involving three Australians in cricket's bribe scandal.

Speed said while the ACB was determined to resolve the bribe issue he would wait until he saw an official report from the Indian police.

He said the International Cricket Council's anti-corruption unit was also investigating reports and it was not up to the ACB to become involved at this stage.

He said there was no reason to believe that any Australian players were involved.
