At Faisalabad, December 3, 2003. Pakistan won by 51 runs. Toss: Pakistan.
Inzamam-ul-Haq, in his 300th one-day international, caused a few raised eyebrows when he
chose to bat first in cool, misty conditions. But his team justified the decision, becoming the first
side to pass 300 in a one-day international on this ground. The New Zealand attack failed to
exploit the conditions, their cause not helped by several dropped catches. Walker took three wickets
in the final over with his medium-pace but by then the damage had been done: Yasir Hameed and
Imran Farhat batted the first 30 overs for 142, before Abdul Razzaq again hit out contemptuously.
In reply, Marshall, who had never made a century for Northern Districts, scored an unbeaten 101
at nearly a run a ball. But 31 of his runs came off part-time bowling when the result was inevitable.
Man of the Match: Imran Farhat.
