RAWALPINDI, Oct 10: Pakistan pacer Mohammad Zahid returned to
Lahore from England a couple of days ago after undergoing back
surgery. Zahid, who captured 11 wickets here on his debut
against New Zealand, was operated six weeks ago in England for
stress fracture.
According to sources, Zahid contacted Pakistan physiotherapist
Dr Dan Keisal here on Thursday and inquired when he was coming
to Lahore. "Yes, he telephoned me. But said nothing about his
injury and operation. I will go to Lahore on Saturday and will
have a look at him before making any comment," Keisal told Dawn.
Zahid burst into international scene when he helped a Wasim
Akram and Waqar Younis minus Pakistan draw the 2-Test series
with New Zealand 1-1 when he grabbed 11 wickets in the match.
Zahid, termed by most as quicker than Waqar Younis, sustained
back injury during April's two-Test tour of Sri Lanka. He bowled
28 overs in the first Test and then 12 overs in the first
innings of the second Test under a temperature of 44 degree
celsius.
Since April 27, Zahid has not played an cricket and in fact, had
his Nottinghamshire contract cancelled.
