Former Indian off-spinner EAS Prasanna has been invited to
coach youngsters in Dubai, according to well-placed
sources close to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
Under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council, Prasanna will
leave for Dubai in December to coach young cricketers.
Prasanna has been running an academy for spin bowlers in
Bangalore. Unfortunately, the Board of Control for Cricket in
India (BCCI) has not utilised the services of the great
off-spinner of yesteryears except to ask him to accompany
Rajesh Chauhan to the Fred Titmus school in London to get
his bowling action rectified. Old players should not be allowed
to fade away but should be recycled into the system to spot
new talent.
Former South African cricket coach Bob Woolmer is also
conducting a special coaching course in Dubai for seven days
from Tuesday which will provide a fine opportunity for
budding cricketers to learn the technical points of the game.
This camp will precede another one to be conducted by former
West Indian captain Alvin Kallicharan in October.
