John F Reid, the former Test batsman, has resigned as New Zealand's high-performance manager to become a senior adviser of talent development at Sport and Recreation New Zealand. Reid set up the academy-style programme at Lincoln University after joining New Zealand Cricket in 1996, and was also responsible for developing grass-roots projects.
"The contribution that John has made to cricket in New Zealand is immense," said Martin Snedden, the NZC chief executive. "As a player he was a Test cricketer of the highest standard, and achieved much as coaching director and then CEO of Auckland Cricket before joining NZC."
Snedden said the high-performance and development programmes and facilities that NZC had were a reflection of Reid's excellent work. Reid, 49, will finish his current job on June 9.
