Jamaica Cricket 2007 Limited, the Jamaica Local Organising Committee for ICC Cricket Cup 2007, has the responsibility for the construction and refurbishing of the stadia (Sabina Park in Kingston and the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium) that will be used as venues for the tournament in March 2007.
To the extent that there is a shortage of cement in the country, these two projects have been affected. The Jamaica LOC is exploring a number of different scenarios in an effort to make up for the time lost. A number of strategies are being discussed as we seek to speedily bring the projects back on track. These include:
- Discussions with the Caribbean Cement Company Limited (CCC) to consider the national importance of our major undertakings at Sabina Park and in Trelawny, thereby ensuring priority deliveries. The CCC has expressed their willingness to do so and have requested details of our pouring/supply schedules, which have been provided.
Information of any losses and/or additional cost on account of the delays is not yet available. The LOC enjoys the full support of our Contractors in our efforts to re-align our projects in pursuit of the established completion schedules.
