Thomas records Championship best figures

A Championship best bowling performance by Darren Thomas put Glamorgan in a strong position on an eventful first day`s play of the county`s Championship match against Durham at Cardiff.

After being put in, the visitors collapsed dramatically in mid-afternoon, losing their last five wickets for just 9 runs as Thomas took 7-19 in the space of fifty deliveries.

The all-rounder finished with Championship best figures of 7-33 from 15.2 overs. They were also the best bowling figures for Glamorgan in Championship cricket since Waqar Younis took 8-17 against Sussex at Swansea in June 1997.
