2006-07 HKCA Saturday League
Conditions were fine for the 4th round of 2006-07 HKCA Saturday League matches played on 23rd September 2006.
Nomads made the most of the pleasant conditions as they walloped the previously unbeaten Mainlanders by a massive 263 runs in a match played at Hong Kong Cricket Club. Batting first, Nomads piled on the runs at over ten runs an over to record the highest score so far this season with 356-5 from their 35 overs. Travis Smithson led from the front with a belligerent 130 and he received able support from A Swan and Toby Brown who both scored half-centuries. In reply, Mainlanders were routed for just 93 with Luke Rewega and Smith grabbing three wickets apiece.
At Kowloon Cricket Club, the Hong Kong Under-19's were beaten by Saracens by one wicket in a nail-biter. The Hong Kong Under-19's batted and posted a total of 173, thanks largely to Zafaran Ali who held the innings together with a polished 75. Zafaran Ali then grabbed five wickets and Shakeel claimed four as Saracens sneaked home with the last pair at the crease. Nigel Shroff top-scored with 76 for Saracens.
In another close match played at the Po Kong Village Road Number One ground, SCC Vampires notched up their first win of the season as they beat St George's by two wickets. St George's batted first but could only muster a total of 127. In reply, SCC Vampires appeared to be cruising to victory after Surajit and Chandra both hit forties but three wickets in one over by Iftikhar Ali nearly spoiled the day.
Things were more clear-cut on the Po Kong Village Road Number Two ground where Crusaders notched up a 105-run victory over Laguna Gully. It was a team effort as Damian Kelleher (82*), Anthony Barnet (79) and Mohana Marzook (71*) all scored half-centuries as Crusaders notched up 266-2 from their 35 overs. Prakash Chakravarti led the reply by Laguna Gully with an unbeaten 68, but their innings was wrecked by Shamal Perrera who grabbed 6-41 from his ten over spell. Laguna Gully was eventually dismissed for 161.
In the final match of the day, LSW Warriors moved to the top of the points table after they defeated Witherers by three wickets at Mission Road. Witherers batted first and they posted a total of 180-9 from their 35 overs as Munir Dar claimed four wickets and Tabarak Dar three. The Dar's then both hit forties and Zain Abbas scored 50 as LSW Warriors reached their victory target for the loss of seven wickets. Hugo Davison claimed five wickets for Witherers.

Three matches were played in the 2006-07 HKCA Sunday League in generally fine conditions on 24th September 2006.
At Mission Road, Pakistan Association recorded a six-wicket victory over Wanderers. Batting first, Wanderers reached 211-8 from their 50 overs with K Thiedeman top scoring with 50. In reply, Nasir Hameed scored 82 as Pakistan Association eased to victory as they reached 213-4 in the 36th over.
Optimists enjoyed an eight-wicket victory over Templars at Hong Kong Cricket Club. A five-wicket haul from Gittens helped restrict Templars to a total of 206 in 43 overs. For Templars S Pranav scored 73 and Mohammad Azam 69. In reply, Mark Eames struck an undefeated 74 and Hart hit 67 as Optimists raced to their victory target in just 28 overs for the loss of two wickets.
Millennium CC scored their first victory of the season when they beat Vagabonds by 116 runs at Po Kong Village Road. Ahmad Dar led the way with 87 while Shiraz Khan and Talat Mehmood both struck fifties as Millennium CC posted a total of 271-7 from their 50 overs. In reply Vagabonds were dismissed in the 32nd over for 155 as Masood Shafi snapped up 5-46 from eleven overs. For Vagabonds, Krishnan top scored with 67.
