Hoosain Ayob, the ICC's regional development manager for Africa, has said that he believes Uganda can qualify for the 2007 World Cup.
At the weekend, Uganda exited the Intercontinental Cup after losing to Namibia, but Ayob said that was no reason for Uganda to be pessimistic. "After looking at the two performances against Kenya and Namibia, I have the confidence that the only difference the two countries have is experience.
"I am very happy with the trend Uganda cricket is taking and as ICC we shall do what is possible to help solve a few weaknesses especially with the national team."
Uganda will need to finish in the top five at July's ICC Trophy in Ireland to reach the 2007 finals. They begin their preparations with two one-dayers against Namibia at Lugogo.
