History repeated itself in a virtual re-enactment of last year's final as Grenada Schools won the 14th Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament yesterday.
It was the second consecutive title for Grenada Schools, having beaten Foundation in last year's final as well.
Just two deliveries were left when Leeshon Chitan drove off-spinner Ryan Austin through wide mid-off and, with his partner Nelson Roberts, completed the two runs required to give Grenada victory.
Had Shawn Payne at mid-on accepted an easy catch the previous delivery, the horrible repeat for Foundation might have been avoided. To complicate matters further for Foundation, Grenada Schools scored a run from the error, so that they needed only two off the final three deliveries with three wickets in hand.
Topscorer Aaron St. Hillaire was let off twice before he was bowled by left-arm spinner Jedson Yarde for 45 which included three fours.
Fifth out
He was fifth out at 93 and when Elon Campbell followed five runs later, Grenada Schools needed 43 with four wickets standing.
Needing 38 off eight overs seemed a challenging task for the lower order but a couple of powerfully struck boundaries by Shawn George kept the Foundation bowlers under pressure.
There was renewed hope for Foundation when George was run out at 114 but Roberts played equally well in partnership with Chitan to steer Grenada Schools to victory.
Earlier, Foundation seemed set to avenge last year's defeat when they reached 80 for one off the first 20 overs, but fell away in the second half and could only mount a modest target.
