New Zealanders won by 259 runs. Both teams chose from 15 players. Three New Zealanders retired out on the opening day and four second time round. Zimbabwe were effectively 0-3 after seven balls of their first innings: captain Tino Mawoyo was struck on the thumb by Tim Southee (which ruled him out of the First Test) and the next two made ducks. Later in the innings, players had to lie down as a swarm of bees crossed the field.
