Bangladesh v Zimbabwe, 2015-16
Wisden's review of the third ODI, Bangladesh v Zimbabwe, 2015-16
Bangladesh were well set for a 3-0 whitewash after an untroubled opening stand of 147 in 29.3 overs, but wobbled to 226-6 after 44; the first three wickets all fell to stumpings by Regis Chakabva, a first for ODIs. Then came an incident which left the tourists fuming: on 32, Mahmudullah seemed to be run out by yards by Sikandar Raza's direct hit. He kept going towards the pavilion, only to stop when the decision was referred to the third umpire, Enamul Haque. He spotted that Chakabva had knocked off a bail while preparing to gather the return, so pressed the "not out" button. However Chakabva, realising he might have broken the wicket, had also collected the ball and removed a stump - but the umpires ruled this had taken place after the decision was referred, and the ball was therefore dead. Play was held up for several minutes while the players debated the issue, and at one stage it seemed possible they would walk off. Mustafizur eventually rendered discussion academic with another eye-catching performance, returning to add three wickets after Zimbabwe had reached a competitive 186-4 in the 36th over.
