England recorded their first victory of the summer over South Africa and - with onlookers by now losing track and, possibly, interest - reclaimed their No. 1 status. Anderson became the second England bowler after Darren Gough to collect 100 one-day international wickets on home soil, while Dernbach bowled with pace and variation to outfox South Africa's top order, ripping out Amla's leg stump, then bowling Elgar with a back-of-the-hand leg-cutter. Tredwell, playing in place of the rested Graeme Swann, disposed of de Villiers and Duminy, while Bopara got through ten tidy overs before another failure with the bat - he called for a review, which showed nothing on Hot Spot, but was given out on the sound of a nick. It brought Morgan and Trott together at 64 for three, and they played with calm authority to take England to within 40 of victory. Both played to type: Morgan, with an inventive 73 from 67 balls; Trott barely half as quickly.
