The Championship match between Glamorgan and Worcestershire at Cardiff ended in a draw as the visitors, set a target of 309 runs, adopted a safety first policy, ending on 175/6 from 79.4 overs.
Glamorgan had begun the day on 311/8 and the first hour saw Michael Kasprowicz and Alex Wharf sharing a jaunty ninth wicket stand of 64 before the Australian was bowled by Justin Kemp. Soon after, Robert Croft declared with his team 308 runs ahead, and Worcestershire then got off to a poor start as Kasprowicz trapped Anurag Singh leg before.
The early loss of one of their more experienced top order batsmen meant that the visitors opted for a cautious route either side of lunch, as Stephen Peters and Kadeer Ali quietly accumulated runs before Peters was caught by Jon Hughes off the bowling of Robert Croft.
Kasprowicz struck twice later in the afternoon, bowling Ali for 53, and then winning a leg before decision against Kemp. But Ben Smith thwarted Glamorgan`s attempt to make further inroads, and the Worcestershire captain occupied the crease for three hours, frustrating the Glamorgan attack, hitting just four boundaries, before he gave Dean Cosker a return catch.
Stephen Moore continued the resistance against the accurate Glamorgan spinners, but with 20 minutes to go, Cosker picked up a second wicket as Gareth Batty was stumped by Mark Wallace. But Moore, playing in his first Championship match, remained defiant at the other end, and with Stephen Adshead, they calmly played out the final overs as the game ended in a draw.
