ZCU statement on Whittall - Parore incident

During the 93rd over of Zimbabwe's 2nd Innings, on 22 September 2000, the Match Referee, Mr Cammie Smith, advised of an incident that had occured resulting in Adam Parore pushing aside Guy Whittall. This occured as Guy Whittall put his bat in the air in front of the wicket keeper as he came up to collect the ball.

Mr Smith indicated that he was satisfied that the batsman, Whittall, need not have put his bat in the air in front of Parore as he came up to the stumps to collect the ball as it was thrown to him, which resulted in Parore being provoked. Mr Smith has severely reprimanded Parore and has warned as to his future conduct.
