Next month's second Test between the West Indies and Zimbabwe
will be dedicated to durable fast bowler Courtney Andrew Walsh.
The test match which starts on March 25, will be dubbed A
Dedication to Our Cuddy and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB)
will dedicate a portion of the ticket sales - US$1 per ticket -
to the Courtney Walsh Appreciation Fund.
Walsh, who has been in the international arena since 1984, is
chasing Kapil Dev's world record of 434 wickets. The 37-year-old
Jamaican needs nine scalps to smash the record.
Yesterday, the WICB launched the ticket sales for this year's
Cable & Wireless Series between Pakistan, Zimbabwe and the West
Indies.
This year, cricket enthusiasts can benefit from lower weekday
rates for test matches. This feature was tried by the WICB during
the Busta cup and it was well received by patrons.
Marketing manager events and promotions, Darren Millien, said:
'we found that during the week cricket was poorly attended, so we
came up with a pricing strategy which was aimed at helping to
boost sales and it has been successful.'
