'Shakib makes a big difference' - Chigumbura
Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura has said that players like Shakib Al Hasan make a big difference after the allrounder's performances tilted the first ODI in favour of Bangladesh. After his sixth one-day hundred, Shakib picked up four wickets to help his side take 1-0 series lead, even as Zimbabwe were troubled by spin as they have been throughout the series.
"It's always tough to play in Bangladesh, but there are still four more games to play," Chigumbura said. "The next game is important so we need to bounce back as a team and try and level the series 1-1 before we go to Dhaka.
"He [Shakib] makes a big difference, he is a class player and the credit goes to him. I think any team will love to have a guy like Shakib because it brings a balance in the team."
Zimbabwe missed the all-round abilities of Malcolm Waller, whose absence from the ODI side was mainly to have him back for the World Cup. He was reported for a suspect action after the second Test and was sent back home before the ODIs.
"Obviously he had to go and get tested so you can't do anything about it," Chigumbura said. "It is the ICC's rules. If the umpires suspect something you can't do anything about it. Hopefully he will be back in the team sooner or later.
"We are trying to first check him because the later he goes, the chances of him going to the World Cup will be slimmer so we had to gamble that and make sure that he gets tested. The sooner [he returns] the better for ZC to decide. We would love to have him in the side."
