Please stop whining about the fight. Intensity and competitiveness brings out the best in players. And if children are replicating these actions on the streets then the parents are to blame for not guiding them the proper way.
In IPL, i think both these playes have been let off lightly. What is needed is a 6 match suspension in the current tournament. Plus ICC should step in and give another 6 match suspension in the immediately forthcoming matches (any format). This should dissuade such boorish attitude in the game today.
Some of the comments dismiss these things as banter. C'mon guys, you got kids watching this and replicating it in the streets. No one wants that!
Both the players are shown holding dumb phones. Satish don't you need smartphones to tweet?
I am all for a little banter but in all fairness it should not get physical. It's cricket not Ice Hockey.
I cannot understand why Pollard is being made out to be the villain. The bowler deliberately bowled the bowl at him.He had to take evasive actions. It is time enough cricketers around the world stand up to these bullies who call themselves sportsmen and who are always find favours with the authorities while the rest of the teams members are punished for similar or lesser incidents.
Well that was fun to watch I really enjoyed it!
Whats wrong with a little bit of banter. I love it...... Makes the game more intense and brings out true passion. If cricket need a little boost up in North America, people should stop bitching about these little fight..
@solomon Raj your a funny person u fail to see the flaws caused by Mitchell who is equally reponsible for his actions , and you talk about captains look at what virat kolhi was doing complaining atleast not like rohit sharma .. if there was one person who didnt wanna fiight was gayle so cut the crap and blame both sides .
It is because of them that the intensity of the viewers reached the sky level... I hate to admit it - "Sledging makes match more interesting"
Pollard's bat slipped, Starc couldn't pull out on time (that's what she said), they said a few words, but stump mic was not being broadcast so all of this hysteria really has to stop. Not giving them points on the "fair play award" for that game might be the best response. Lets be clear; you can swear at, or tease, or wind up your opponent. You can not threaten non competative voilence or actually attack someone. short of that its all fair game, now if we just kept stump mic on and let everyone hear what the umpires say and the (often very funny) banter then it would be fair to ask players to show a higher level of decency, with regard to their projected image.
This further reiterates that the galaxy of former greats in MI have not been able to inculcate good culture in the team ... very sad ... Sydneygate happened before the very nose of SRT ... now another spat in his team though it was a foreigner who indulged in misbehaviour ...
everything is fair in love and war
Sure, Both of them have been banned for this incident. Mr. Pollard keep doing this "pulling out in last second" when he bowl and bat. Referee/umpire can not question him for the reason ? he irritates the opponent in every match with this behavior. Grow up Mr.pollard(Mr. or Master).
Makes the game a bit more exciting.... why does everyone start screaming for them to be banned? it was not a serious incident
A penalty of obligatory exchanges of banal Twitter trivialities? Now that is real punishment. And for anyone with a working brain a prison sentence with the odd intelligent conversation would surely be preferable.
The Mitchell/ Pollard have already caused huge disrepute to the so called Gentlemen game. The indecent incident would have already set a bad example to youngsters watching the game !.
The punishment by way of 50 & 70% reduction in their match fee is just peanuts. Both should have been handed over atleast 2 match bans in addition to make them totally forfeiting their match fee, which would have sent message to all concerned.
The Mumbai have got a galaxy of Greats as Coach, Mentors & distinguished personalities who should take some time to brief the players on how to behave. The captain is desperate to have belated wins and practically no controls on his players and is not the right type of person to give advices or counselling as his own track record is not good enough.
The novice in Bumrah gesticulating at AB, the legend, as a farewell by his fluke wicket taking needs to be reprimanded by reducing his match fee as it would send the right signals to erring youngsters !
Well, I believe it was the perfect treatment for both. Starc unnecessary exchanges a few words to many batsmen while bowling. And Pollard also has the habit of sledging when he's fielding/bowling. And this fight was quite inevitable, I hope they learn from their mistakes, that is, you can't go on sledging whenever you want. Cricket is a gentleman's game and play as much fairly as you can. Thanks.
Both of them should have been banned for few games for this spat....
