"For financial gain, you have betrayed the trust of Essex, players, fans and followers throughout the world in you to play cricket honestly. Your plea was entered very late in the day. You denied knowledge and lied to police. I have grave doubts whether you are truly remorseful for what has happened."
Judge Anthony Morris showed little sympathy towards Westfield
"Although the ICC is not directly involved in this case, we have followed it closely. While the ICC takes no pleasure from anyone being sent to jail, it is a decision of the court which we support and I believe would act as a deterrent to anyone who is tempted to sully the good name of cricket."
Haroon Lorgat, the ICC chief executive
"This is a very sad day for all at the Club. It is going to take a while for us to fully digest the comments of the judge."
Essex statement
"Another sad day for the game, Westfield sent to prison for 4 months. When will it all finish."
Marcus Trescothick, the former England batsman, on Twitter
"Devoted sports fans who pay hard-earned money to watch competitive matches have a right to expect players to do their honest best for the team, whether those games take place in the biggest world class arenas, or at their local ground."
Crown Prosecution Service statement
"We do maintain zero tolerance toward corruption. But since nothing is yet proven against the cricketer the status remains same as it was so he will continue to play the final tomorrow as captain."
The PCB explain that Danish Kaneria will continue to captain his domestic team
