From exceptional to dismal

By October 1997, West Indies had won 49 more Tests than they had lost. But today's team is in complete freefall

As West Indies prepare for their Test series in Australia, most observers believe the matches will be hopelessly one-sided. Over the last couple of decades, West Indies have been consistently poor as a Test team and the numbers highlight just how startling the decline has been.

  • West Indies have a win-loss record of 1-37 in overseas Tests since December 2003 v the top eight teams
  • No West Indies bowler averages under 30 in Tests since December 2003
  • In Australia, West Indies have lost ten of their 11 Tests since 2000
