Bangladesh 476 and 297 for 4 dec (Mominul 87, Shadman 78, Hoey 2-84) beat Ireland 265 and 291 (Campher 71*, Tector 50, Murad 4-44, Taijul 4-104) by 217 runs
Hasan Murad broke through Ireland's resistance on the fifth day to complete
Bangladesh's 217-run win in the second Test in Dhaka.
Curtis Campher remained unbeaten on 71, lasting for 259 balls.
Gavin Hoey and Campher survived for more than 31 overs, before Murad removed both Hoey and No. 11 Matthew Humphreys in consecutive balls to complete Bangladesh's 2-0 win.
Murad and
Taijul Islam finished with four wickets each, but Mushfiqur Rahim's century in what was his 100th Test was the highlight of the match. Taijul also completed 250 wickets, becoming the sixth left-arm spinner to reach the mark. He had earlier gone past Shakib Al Hasan's 246 wickets to become Bangladesh's highest wicket-taker. There was also an
earthquake that stopped play on the third day.
Campher and Hoey batted with remarkable composure, as Bangladesh's frustration grew after lunch. The pair ensured that Ireland batted 59.3 overs on the fifth day to resist the home side, despite there being a few close calls.
Campher offered the full face of the bat from the start of the fifth day. At the other end, Jordan Neill struck several boundaries, including lofting Hasan Murad for a six. Litton Das dropped Neill on 23, before Mehidy Hasan Miraz got one to spin past Neill's forward prod, which snuck through to the stumps. Campher got to his fifty with a straight six, although he defended the ball astutely.
Ireland had come into the fifth day with four wickets in hand, after they ended the fourth evening on 176 for 6. Bangladesh's spinners struck in more helpful conditions after their batters used the pitch for a little over the first session. After openers Andy Balbirnie and Paul Stirling fell cheaply, Harry Tector did the bulk of the scoring. He made 50 before holing out, as Mushfiqur took a good tumbling catch.
Stephen Doheny was dropped on 2, 13 and 14, before Taijul had him lbw on 15. Bangladesh had earlier declared on 297 for four, with fifties from openers Shadman Islam and Mahmudul Hasan Joy, as well as Mominul Haque, who top scored with 87, and Mushfiqur, whose unbeaten 53 capped off a remarkable game for the 38-year-old veteran.
