Quetta Gladiators 142 (Faheem 43, Kusal 36, Hasan 3-33) beat Karachi Kings 137 for 8 (Seifert 47, Vince 30, Wasim 2-22, Amir 2-26) by five runs
A remarkable bowling comeback from Quetta Gladiators saw them squeeze Karachi Kings out by five runs to defend 142 - the lowest PSL total ever defended at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Kings were cruising at 75 for 1 in eight overs, requiring 68 in 72 balls before a near-perfect rearguard saw Gladiators puncture their way through Kings' batting line-up. The next eight overs produced just 27 runs and five wickets as spin and pace alike kept up pressure which Kings melted in the face of.
None of this seemed possible while Tim Seifert promised to make short work of a low target. Mohammad Amir struck in the first over to dismiss David Warner, but James Vince and Seifert brushed off the early blow, flying out of the blocks and bearing down on the target. Vince went after Amir in his second over while Seifert took down Khurram Shahzad, carrying on with his dominance by smashing 19 off Faheem Ashraf almost all by himself in the eighth over.

Rub of the Green benefits Leicestershire despite Bracey defiance

Five-wicket haul for on-loan seamer sets up visitors before Gloucestershire fight back with ball

Leicestershire 91 for 4 (Goodman 2-16) trail Gloucestershire 252 (Bracey 93*, Green 5-63) by 161 runs
Ben Green notched his maiden five-wicket haul in first class cricket as Leicestershire bowled out Gloucestershire for 252 on the opening day of the Rothesay County Championship Division Two match at the Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol.
The 27-year-old allrounder, on loan from Somerset, exploited overcast conditions to claim 5 for 63 from 17 overs with his medium-paced seamers. Ian Holland weighed in with 3 for 36, while James Bracey's unbeaten 93 helped the hosts to respectability from a perilous 88 for 7.

Sunrisers Hyderabad 155 for 5 (Kishan 44, Kamindu 32*, Noor 2-42) beat Chennai Super Kings 154 (Brevis 42, Mhatre 30, Harshal 4-28, Cummins 2-21, Unadkat 2-21) by five wickets
A three-pronged performance from Kamindu Mendis and Harshal Patel's use of the middle of the pitch led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to win their first-ever match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai, a win SRH will hope revives a faltering campaign.
Dewald Brevis, on his CSK debut, and Ayush Mhatre, the youngest CSK player ever in only his second innings, threatened to inject some freshness into a stale CSK campaign, but the 154 they took CSK to was not enough to avoid their fourth loss at home in IPL 2025 even though they did give SRH a scare on the dry pitch.

Jake Ball five-for gives Durham early honours

But Worcestershire's bowlers strike back on first day yielding 14 wickets

Durham 55 for 4 (Rhodes 17*, Blatherwick 2*, Waite 2-3) trail Worcestershire 162 (Nicholls 42, Ball 5-47) by 107 runs
Somerset loanee Jake Ball took five wickets on his Durham debut to help his new team take the early honours in their Rothesay County Championship match at Visit Worcestershire New Road. But Brett D'Oliveira's bowlers struck back on a day when 14 wickets fell in the Division One clash.
Ball took 5 for 47 as Worcestershire were dismissed for 162, thereby failing to collect a batting bonus point for the fourth successive match this season.

Joseph's three-for helped bowl Qalandars out for 129 before Babar and Talat led Zalmi home with unbeaten fifties

Peshawar Zalmi 133 for 3 (Babar 56*, Talat 51*, Shaheen 2-22) beat Lahore Qalandars 129 (Raza 52, Joseph 3-15, Talat 2-18, Wood 2-25) by seven wickets
Lahore Qalandars fell flat in their first game at home as a half-century from Babar Azam helped Peshawar Zalmi sweep to victory at the Gaddafi Stadium. Alzarri Joseph and Luke Wood cut the Qalandars top and middle order to ribbons, reducing them to 21 for 4. It was only a rearguard half-century from Sikandar Raza that got the Qalandars to a somewhat competitive total, his 37-ball 52 alongside stodgy resistance from the lower order carrying Shaheen Afridi's men to 129.
It was just enough to give Zalmi a brief scare in the powerplay against an on-song Shaheen and Haris Rauf, who reduced the visitors to 40 for 3. But an unbroken 93-run partnership between Babar and Hussain Talat allayed any fears of a collapse. With run rate never an issue, Zalmi eased to their target with 20 balls to spare.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru 205 for 5 (Kohli 70, Padikkal 50, Sandeep 2-45) beat Rajasthan Royals 194 for 9 (Jaiswal 49, Jurel 47, Hazlewood 4-33, Krunal 2-31) by 11 runs
At some point, you'd think the toss gods would show Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) a little mercy at home. But once again, the coin turned its back on Rajat Patidar. This time, though, the bad luck ended right there as they posted 205 for 5, their highest total at home this season. For all that, another heartbreak loomed, but RCB turned it around sensationally to clinch their first home win - and perhaps their most dramatic win at any venue - of IPL 2025.
The losing side were Rajasthan Royals (RR), who came into this contest having let back-to-back games slip out of their control in the final over. Their tension seemed to have defused when Dhruv Jurel, having scratched his way to 18 off 23, found his hitting range, and when he and Shubham Dubey ransacked 22 off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 18th over, the equation came down to 18 off 12.
