Robert Steven Ferley celebrated his nineteenth birthday today with a match winning bowling performance of 10-0-32-4, as England Under-19s completed their first win over the India colts on this tour. India were bowled out for 217 in the 48th over as England completed a 31 run victory in the second one-dayer played at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium, Vijayawada on Sunday.
Set a target of 249 runs in 50 overs, the Indian U19s got off to a poor start. It was all scorching heat as Nadeem Malik came in to bowl the first over. With the fifth ball of the over, he clean bowled Arindam Das for a duck.
Gautam Gambhir once again fell to the trap outside off stump, caught behind by Mark Wallace off Malik for 14. Alind Naidu didn't do any better, caught behind as he chased a ball outside the off stump off the bowling of Chris Tremlett for just four. India were reduced to 59/3 in the 11th over.
Manvinder Bisla and Arjun Yadav added 94 runs in 18.3 overs and steadied the Indian innings. Robert Ferley and Gordon Muchall were outstanding in the field, making some brilliant diving stops. Yadav made 35 off 48 balls, before he was brilliantly caught by Ian Bell off the bowling of Ferley. Ajay Ratra fell to the very next ball, caught by Tremlett for a duck and the Indian innings was reeling at 153/5.

With the help of a fighting 79 by opener Arvind Maan and an unbeaten 60 by Gaurav Tikkas later in the day, Central Zone struggled to 241/9 at close of play against East Zone in their Vijay Hazare Trophy Under-16 semifinal at the RSI grounds in Bangalore on Sunday.
The day started on a bad note for Central Zone as play started an hour late due to the non-availability of a sight screen and then they lost the toss. Put into bat, openers Arvind Maan and Shivakanth Shukla (35) added a slow 65 runs in 26.5 overs. Shukla was the first to be dismissed, bowled by Arshad Iqbal. Thereafter, Iqbal trapped Ali Akbar (4) in the 29th over. Skipper Tahir Abbas (11) hung around for 27 minutes as the score proceeded to 87 before he was run out. All along it was Arvind Maan who did the bulk of the scoring and reached his fifty off the 147th ball he faced. A Alam was the next to be sent back, bowled by B Mohanty.
After battling for 242 minutes, Maan was run out. During his stay he faced 203 balls and hit 11 fours. Then Rahat Ilahi (30) and Gaurav Tikkas forged a 51 run partnership for the fifth wicket. Rakesh Mohanty bowled Ilahi in the 66th over of the innings after which Tikkas progressed to his fifty with the help of 84 balls. Though Tikkas kept one end intact, he lost partners at regular intervals. Devendra Singh then accompanied Tikkas to stumps. Arshad Iqbal was the pick of the East Zone attack with figures of 4 for 36.

Bahutule's hat-trick in West Zone's crushing win over East

Taking 20 wickets in less than a day, West Zone trounced East Zone by an innings and 363 runs with more than a day to spare in their Duleep Trophy league match at the Nehru stadium in Pune on Saturday

Taking 20 wickets in less than a day, West Zone trounced East Zone by an innings and 363 runs with more than a day to spare in their Duleep Trophy league match at the Nehru stadium in Pune on Saturday. With this, West Zone completed their engagements with 17 points and await the result of the Central Zone-South Zone clash to know their fate in the competition. If Central Zone defeats South Zone, they will finish runners-up with 19 points. If Central Zone get only five points, then West Zone will take the second spot in the tournament, already won by North Zone.
If Indian medium pacer Ajit Agarkar routed East Zone in the first innings, former Indian leg spinner Sairaj Bahutule laid them low in the second innings. While Agarkar, with five for 22, was instrumental in bowling out East Zone for 132 the first time around, the 28-yearold Bahutule brought the match to a swift end by taking six for 49 including a hat-trick and bowling out East Zone for 161 in the second innings.
East Zone's capitulation was surprising considering that they started the day at 50 for no loss in the face of West Zone's imposing first innings total of 656 for seven declared. Once the opening stand between skipper Shiv Sundar Das (38) and SZ Suffri (27) was broken at 55, the rest of the batting simply caved in. Three wickets fell with the score on 88 as Agarkar was on a hat-trick after dismissing Das and Sukhbinder with successive deliveries. Only a last wicket partnership of 27 between Utpal Chaterjee (18 not out) and J Zaman (1), the next best after the opening stand and the fact that West Zone conceded as many as 28 extras, boosted the East Zone total to 132.
East Zone fared no better the second time around. This time their top scorer was RR Parida with 41. He faced only 48 balls, hitting seven fours and a six. But the rest of the batting fumbled against Bahutule. Where Agarkar failed, Bahutule succeeded. He removed Sanjay Raul and Sukhbinder Singh with the fifth and sixth balls of an over and then with the first ball of his next, completed an unusual hat-trick by having P Jai Chandra leg before. It was only the second such feat in the competition, the previous being notched up by Kapil Dev for North Zone against West Zone in the 1978-79 final.
