Jamaica added another win against their name as they continued their dominant run - they have already won the championship - by beating Guyana by 139 runs in Montego Bay. Fast bowlers Daren Powell, who has been left out of the West Indies squad for the tour of England, and David Bernard bagged three wickets each as the Guyana batsmen offered little resistance in pursuit of 330. They struggled from the outset, collapsing to 127 for 8 before a 63-run partnership between wicketkeeper Narsingh Deonarine (55) and Veerasammy Permaul (24) helped them to a better score. Legspinner Odean Brown snapped up three wickets to hasten the end as bottom-placed Guyana slipped to their sixth defeat in the tournament. The Guyana bowlers had earlier done well to bowl out Jamaica for 248 with legspinner Davendra Bishoo taking four wickets, but the damage had already been done.
Trinidad and Tobago had finished the third day as favourites to win their contest against Leeward Islands, and they performed admirably to seal a comfortable nine-wicket win on the fourth. They held the aces, having reduced Leewards to 142 for 4 at stumps on the third day, and continued to make frequent inroads to bowl them out for 256 today. Tonito Willett made a determined 40 but a three-wicket burst from left-arm spinner Imran Khan and two wickets for offspinner Amit Jaggernauth shut Leewards out of the game as they lost their last five wickets for 64, setting T & T an easy target of 127. Imran was again the star for his team, striking a quick 68 as opener to complete the victory in the 26th over. T & T now have two wins in the competition and are third in the table with 66 points. Leewards, who have won four and lost as many are just one point short of their opponents.
Barbados put up a good fight against Combined Campuses and Colleges in Bridgetown, posting 278 after tottering at 167 for 7 at stumps on the third day, but failed to set a sizeable target with their opponents winning by five wickets. Overnight batsmen Kevin Stoute (63) and Tino Best (51) added 92 for the eighth wicket to defy CCC in the morning session but a double-strike by offspinner Ryan Austin (4-93) and Stoute's dismissal off left-arm spinner Anderson Sealy put an end to their resistance. CCC began well, adding 51 but the loss of four wickets for 46 from there on - Ryan Hinds took 3 for 43 - put them in a spot of bother. But an unbeaten 26 from wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton and a steady innings from Floyd Reifer, who was out on the same score, capped CCC's third win of the tournament. Barbados, who slipped to their fourth straight defeat are still six points ahead of CCC.
