Full commentary

That is it from me, hope you had a good time following this game despite the long wait due to rain. I will be back tomorrow with the two games, when Mumbai take on Pune and Punjab play Rajasthan.

Presentation Ceremony:

Sehwag: Boys did very well, bowlers bowled brilliantly after we won the toss. Fielded very well. Finch outscored me, played very well.

Gambhir: The way Morne bowled, he bowled some quality stuff. The total we had was a quality total in the end, but they batted well. Pathan was excellent with his batting.

Irfan Pathan edges out Morne Morkel to walk away with the man of the match award.

Pathan: I wasn't looking forward to hitting Yusuf for the boundary. The pace of the ball helped me time my shots.

That is an excellent knock from Pathan, unbeaten 42 from only 20 balls. When he walked out at three, it was a bit of a surprise - to me at least - but he has done more than what was expected out him, continuing the good work done by Morne Morkel with the ball.

Pathan himself admits that he was expecting to bat seven. He also says that they wanted to target one bowler towards the end, and it turned out to be Marchant de Lange. And to add to it, he is candid enough to say that he did not like hitting his brother Yusuf for a four in that penultimate over!

11.1
4
Bhatia to Pathan, FOUR runs

Full-toss and it has been flicked over the square-leg fielder for a four! Delhi have won with five balls to spare!

Only two required from the last over. Pathan on strike. Bhatia with the ball.

Nudged away to the leg-side and gets a single.

10.5
4
Pathan to Pathan, FOUR runs

Goes down a couple of steps and lifts it over the extra-cover region for a four that had grace written all over it!

10.4
1lb
Pathan to Maxwell, 1 leg bye

Attempts a sweep and is hit on the pads again. The keeper screams, to no avail.

10.3
1
Pathan to Pathan, 1 run

Quicker, flatter and Pathan cuts Pathan away to the sweeper.

10.2
1lb

Turn for Pathan and the batsman is hit on his pads. They still run for a leg-bye.

1
de Lange to Pathan, 1 run

Played away for a single and retains strike.

6
de Lange to Pathan, SIX runs

Biggie! Pathan's got his third six and that did not hit the middle either! He has changed it around with those two sixes.

9.4
2
de Lange to Pathan, 2 runs

Short again and Pathan has smacked it away again! But this time there is a fielder there and they run two.

9.3
1
de Lange to Maxwell, 1 run

Another ball in the block-hole and played it out to mid-wicket for a run.

This is worth a try, Sudipta: "They should give Yusuf a ball. Irfan may become emotional and get out."

9.2
1
de Lange to Pathan, 1 run

Yorker length from that height and Pathan does well to dig it out to mid-on.

9.1
6
de Lange to Pathan, SIX runs

Smash! Short ball from de Lange and Pathan hits the sweetest part of the bat, it goes the distance.

That six really helped. Only 28 needed from three overs now.

Played away to the off-side for a single

8.5
6
Kallis to Pathan, SIX runs

Finally connected and the pressure is lifted off for now. Far too many singles and dot balls before this but this time it was right in the slot and Pathan smashes it over long-on.

35 needed from 20 now.

8.4
1
Kallis to Maxwell, 1 run

Good short one and that is only a single off that pull.

8.3
1
Kallis to Pathan, 1 run

Pitched in the slot but it seemed a tad slower and Pathan does not connect properly. had he connected a tad more, it may have gone into the long-on's hands. And a little more than that, it would have cleared him. Only a single here.

8.2
Kallis to Pathan, no run

Driven to the covers and the non-striker is sent back by Pathan.

8.1
2
Kallis to Pathan, 2 runs

Tries to drive it over the covers but did not get it off the middle and that falls just short of the fielder.

Another slower one and the batsman had no idea about it. A stifled appeal but an excellent over there, only three from it.
