length ball, on off, and flat-batted to cover. They scamper across for a single and Chennai Super Kings win by eight runs!
That's all from us. See you tomorrow, good night.
Rummy: "Lot of credit to Dhoni for his super innings and his captaincy by shuffling his bowler's with the heavy dew in play. "
MS Dhoni:We wanted to get a partnership going, it was needed at the time, we knew there'd be dew. Bhaji missed the match because there were quite a few right handers. Just hoping the batsmen can keep performing and bowlers can improve as the tournament progresses, which tends to happen in the IPL. It was very difficult for the finger spinners with the dew, but we were able to rotate, the legspinner bowled really well, as a wrist spinner with the dew, Tahir did really well.
Harsh: "CSK and their habit of making every match a nail biter is going to give me a heart attack one day. Not easy being a CSKian"
Ajinkya Rahane: Disappointed, we started off well, overall what cost us were the last five overs with the ball. Even batting, with the dew the target was chaseable. We need to win smaller moments, we've been playing good cricket, some luck with us can change the tide
12.10am, April 1: This isn't an April Fool's joke. Chennai Super Kings have made it three wins from three matches, despite being 28 for 3 in their first innings. Dhoni's masterclass earlier, followed up by an excellent bowling performance from their pacers and Tahir have ensured that the defending champions move to the top of the points table. Captain Cool delivers again, and it seems like his attitude has rubbed onto his younger boys as well. Excellent 19th from Shardul, Deepak Chahar was excellent in the Powerplay too. We'll have the reactions and presentation very soon. Stick around.
Raunak: "Stokes and Jofra gave CSK quite a scare"
Sharma: "Why did Joffra take a single? Should have kept strike. That was not clever. "
Girish: "Both teams with 'Royal' in their name are yet to open their account in points table!"
in the air and taken at third man! Tahir takes the catch, and he gives the crowd a flying kiss. The Chepauk erupts. Length ball, on off, and Gopal's attempted slog takes an outside edge
Is that the end of Royals' challenge?
full and very wide outside off, and Jofra mistimes a drive to cover. Walks across for a single. His bat is broken too
CSK taking their time.
back of a length on middle, and the ball hits Gopal's shoulders. Delivery rolls down to third man
Royals need 12 off four. Crowd shouting Bravo, Bravo
back of a length, on off, and Gopal backs away to cut this square. Ball goes over Gopal's bat. Nifty from Bravo
Our forecast has Royals' chances at 16% now. That was a big wicket. Shreyas Gopal's here. He can swing the bat too
Chet: "If only someone else would have bowled that last over instead of Jaydev Unadkat. If only"
soft dismissal! Chinna Thala to the rescue. Low full toss on off, and Stokes tries to lift it over cover, but he's sliced this to Raina at cover
Eleven needed for the Super Over. Twelve for Royals to win. Ten or less, and Chennai win. Royals have clawed back very well here. And looks like DJ Bravo will bowl the 20th over
Parikshith Hari: "What's cricinfo's prediction showing now? Please let us know sreshth" - 31% chance for Royals
back of a length, outside off, and he drags a pull to deep midwicket. Royals need 12 off the final over
low full toss on off, and he drills a drive to extra cover. Shorey cleans up
Umair: "At the beginning of the match, I had predicted csk will win by 2 runs. No one publishes my comment."
one-handed shot for six! Holy moly. Length ball angling into Stokes from around the wicket, but he uses his wrists and swivels to pull behind square. One hand comes off his bat, but enough power behind that to go for a maximum. Unbelievable
Royals need 21 off nine balls
back of a length on middle, but slower from Shardul. Jofra pulls behind square to deep fine leg
sliced over point and falls safe. Full outside off, and looked to drive over cover, but edged the ball behind square instead
Cat-and-mouse stuff. Shardul pulls out of his run-up
full on off, and angling into Stokes. He skips down the wicket to try and muscle this over to the leg side, but inside-edges the shot into his pads. They scamper across for one
Another ball change
yorker just outside leg stump, but the ball hits his boot and rolls away to Dhoni. Could've been a wide if Jofra got out of the delivery's way. Royals need 25 off 12 now
that's outta here! Full, not fast enough on middle, and he clears his front leg to hammer a six over Bravo's head. This guy can bat
low full toss on middle, and he flicks to deep midwicket. Calls early for the second, and both these men are pretty quick
slower ball, full on off, and he mistimes a drive to cover. Raina dives to his left to intercept, and stops Stokes from coming back on strike
paddled! Back of a length on middle, but Stokes shuffles across the stumps, exposes all three stumps, and then gets enough bat to find the gap between keeper and short fine leg
Long off goes back. Deep point too.
slapped! Slower ball, really full outside off, and he clears his front leg, before flat-batting a six over wide long off. Royals need 38 off 17
muscled over long on! Quick ball, full on leg, but he clears his front leg to lift a shot over the boundary. Royals need 44 off 18
length ball, skidder outside off, and going straight into Dhoni's gloves. Jofra can't get bat on ball
