Guyana moved into second position on the Regional Four Day Competition points table with a four-wicket win against Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in St Kitts. CCC chose to bat, but could not pile up a substantial first-innings total: only Nkrumah Bonner and Jason Holder got to fifties, as they were bowled out for 194. Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul was the destroyer-in-chief with five wickets.
Guyana responded with 320, driven by an unbeaten hundred from Assad Fudadin. The lead of 126 proved very handy; even though CCC put in an improved performance the second time around, building around an unbeaten ton from wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton to get to 342, Guyana was left with just over 200 to chase for victory. Fast bowler Christopher Barnwell did most of the damage, taking six wickets including four of the top five batsmen.
Apart from Rajindra Chandrika, all the Guyana batsmen chipped in in the chase, getting into double figures and scoring at a decent clip. They overhauled the target of 217 in 51 overs, despite CCC new-ball bowler Kevin McClean claiming his second four-wicket haul of the match. Guyana's Fudadin was named the Man of the Match.
Barbados scripted a comeback to win against Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) by five wickets in Bridgetown. Barbados conceded a 59-run first-innings lead, as T&T's 'mystery' offspinner Sunil Narine kept their middle order in check to finish with 5 for 78. Earlier, T&T had put on 338 after being asked to bat, with captain and wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin top scoring with 88.
While Fidel Edwards had been the star with the ball for Barbados in the first innings, with 5 for 64, in T&T's second innings the bowlers combined to bowl them out for a mere 119. Again, Ramdin was the visitors' top scorer with 37. The meant Barbados needed 179 to win and a half-century stand for the second wicket between Kraigg Brathwaite and captain Kirk Edwards put them well on their way.
Eventually they got home with five wickets to spare, taking 12 points for the win while T&T gained four for securing the first-innings lead. Edwards, who had also made 70 in the first innings, was named the Man of the Match.
