We hope you've enjoyed our coverage of this series. Join us for the one-dayers which get underway on January 18. For now, from Will Luke, Martin Williamson, Andrew Miller, Andrew McGlashan and probably some others that I've forgotten, it's goodnight.

Dwayne Bravo:

"The guys came back and fought well. It's a young team, a new coach, captain and staff so it's a positive sign. We were setback by injuries and key players, and that cost us. We should be proud of ourselves for the way we fought back. Congratulations to South Africa, the players and the fans. They did really well." Yes indeed, Dwayne. Well done those fans. We certainly enjoyed their work.

Shaun Pollock, playing in his final Test, has a few words. "It was fantastic. To play here was really special, and it's nice to contribute to us winning the series. It's been a fantastic journey for me.

"The time is right. I've had a good innings and played a lot of good cricket, but there's a lot of talent around. When Steyn bowls like that, you don't need anyone else! There's so much talent waiting in the wings and I think now's the right time."

A convincing thumping by South Africa. They've completely dominated this Test, and indeed the series. Chastened after the first Test, which West Indies won at Port Elizabeth, they came back strongly in the second before hitting their straps here in Durban. West Indies have lurched from good to bad to dreadful, and today had no answer to Dale Steyn with the new ball. Marlon Samuels and Dwayne Bravo batted excellently and showed tremendous courage in their fourth-wicket stand of 144. But the rest offered meek resistance, and Steyn was absolutely unstoppable.

And what a fitting end this is for Shaun Pollock, who retired from cricket yesterday. This is his final Test, on his home ground, and the players give him a guard of honour, all shaking his hand. Smith and Nel lift him up on their shoulders, and he receives a standing ovation from the crowd

Steyn to Edwards, OUT

bowled him and South Africa have beaten the West Indies by an innings. A brilliant ball to a tailender - too fast, too straight

Fidel Edwards b Steyn 0 (5b 0x4 0x6 9m) SR: 0

Steyn to Edwards, no run

short, Edwards tries to...well, I'm not really sure. Evade it? Edge it? Spoon it over the slips? One or all of those

Short-leg is in place, incidentally

86.3
Steyn to Edwards, no run

another misdirected delivery, too straight. Still, it was too fast for Edwards who was whacked on the pad

86.2
Steyn to Edwards, no run

again down the leg side

86.1
Steyn to Edwards, no run

Edwards shuffles to leg and Steyn follows him. It's clipped to mid-on

Here's Steyn. This match ought to last no more than six more balls. I'm betting on two

edged over Boucher's head for four! Short, he goes for a pull and gets a thin edge which just evades Boucher's leap

Ntini to Taylor, FOUR runs

bang! I do love tailend madness. This is a fine shot, pinging it over mid-on and timing it well

Ntini to Taylor, FOUR runs

humpty dumpty, that's monstrous. Too short and he absolutely mows it through midwicket. Short-leg was nearly decapitated

85.3
Ntini to Taylor, no run

scooped to a wide mid-on

85.2
Ntini to Taylor, no run

oh and where has this one gone? It balloons to gully...but it's off the shoulder

At last South Africa attack with three slips and a gully

85.1
Ntini to Taylor, no run

back of a length, nervously nudged to leg

Steyn has 90 Test wickets at under 24. That is pretty good going. Here's Ntini

Steyn's eighth five-wicket haul in Tests. He has been quite brilliant to watch this summer

Steyn to Powell, OUT

gone! Another brilliant delivery from Steyn, Powell trying to play to leg but beaten for pace. It was straight, and very fast, and much too good for him

Daren Powell b Steyn 0 (2b 0x4 0x6 3m) SR: 0

Awful shot. Utterly terrible

84.5
Steyn to Powell, no run

edged, and dropped! Wide of the off stump, he flayed and edged it to Boucher...but it didn't carry

Remember, Chanderpaul probably won't bat so South Africa only need two more wickets

Steyn should wrap this up tonight

84.4
W
Steyn to Sammy, OUT

got him! Angling into his pads but straightening on him at the last moment, and Sammy tried to turn it to leg but gets a leading edge which flies straight back to the bowler

Daren Sammy c & b Steyn 17 (24b 3x4 0x6 40m) SR: 70.83
84.3
Steyn to Sammy, no run

much better line, in the channel outside off and Sammy wisely leaves it alone

Steyn needs to calm down a little. It's wild and woolly

84.2
Steyn to Sammy, no run

left alone. Too wide

He is seriously fired up

84.1
Steyn to Sammy, no run

how do you play that? A fast legbreak which beats Sammy's poky defensive - and let me tell you, that was quick. Boucher took it almost at face height

excellent shot again, playing it with soft hands and guiding it past gully

shot! A push for four, nothing more, just using the pace of the ball to time it through cover

Ntini to Taylor, 1 run

ooh an inside edge, that could so easily have banged into his off stump. But they go for a single and this could be trouble...but Ntini's throw is miles off target
