NOTE: We might not always be able to tip you off about late injury (or other relevant) updates, so do keep an eye out for the toss before making your final picks.
Captain: Glenn Phillips
One of the top-five run-getters of the last season, Phillips has started the 2020 CPL on a similar note. He followed up his 44 off 29 balls against St Lucia Zouks with 58 off 42 against Trinbago Knight Riders on Thursday, even though his team ended on the losing side. With not many high-scoring games this season so far, Phillips can be priceless to your team.
Vice-captain: Shimron Hetmyer
There has been little doubt about Hetmyer's hitting abilities but consistency eluded him last year. Of his 29 T20 innings in 2019, 15 times he was dismissed in single digits. But for now, he seems to be enjoying one of those rich patches, having scored 43*, 63* and 71 in his last three T20 knocks. You too make hay while Hetmyer shines.
Hot Picks
Keemo Paul: He may not have the express pace of Oshane Thomas or the left-arm angle of Sheldon Cottrell, but Paul showed he could be equally effective during his Player-of-the-Match performance against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, when he picked up 4 for 19. He can contribute with the bat as well.
Imran Tahir: One cannot undermine the value of legspinners in T20 cricket and Tahir showed why against the Patriots. Bowling in the Powerplay, he struck with his first ball to send the dangerous Chris Lynn back. Later, he trapped Jahmar Hamilton with a googly to finish with figures of 4-0-18-2. A must-have in any fantasy side.
Andre Russell: Russell may not have been his usual self so far this CPL - he struck at less than a run-a-ball in both games - but despite that, his 25 off 26 balls against Trinbago Knight Riders was the second-highest score for his team. Someone who can turn a game around with the bat as well as the ball, it wouldn't be prudent to leave him out at any point.
Value picks
Asif Ali: An unbeaten 47 to steer his side to victory in the first game and then a brisk 22 in the second might make one wonder why he is not with the Pakistan squad in England. But fret not, have him in the side and cash in on his form.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman: Playing in his first CPL, Mujeeb has already shown his worth with three wickets in two matches while conceding a miserly 4.75 runs per over. A mystery spinner who is almost always guaranteed to bowl his quota of four overs and pick up a wicket or two on the way.
Point to note
  • Hetmyer, with 134 runs from two innings, is the leading run-scorer of the 2020 CPL so far, while Paul's five wickets are the joint-highest.
