MELBOURNE, June 16 AAP - Australian Cricket Board (ACB) investigator Greg
Mellick is currently going through secret tapes to see if there are any
references to Australians in match fixing allegations.
ACB spokesman Brian Murgatroyd said the board was waiting to hear from
Mellick who was following the match fixing inquiry in South Africa.
He said Mellick was in possession of the secret taping of former Pakistan
captain Salim Malik who is a central figure in the match-fixing scandal that
is sweeping world cricket.
"He is currently going through the tape to ascertain if there are any
references to the Australians," Murgatroyd said.
He added that there were no surprises in yesterday's evidence given by the
disgraced former South African captain Hansie Cronje regarding Australian
cricketers.
He told AAP that the ACB's own inquiry had already established that Shane
Warne, Mark Waugh and Tim May had been approached by bookmakers during the
Karachi Test in 1994.
