Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Thursday night a 16-member
national team with former skipper Akram Khan staging a comeback to the
side within five weeks of being axed. The team, to be led by Aminul
Islam Bulbul, will play three one-dayers and a three-day match with
the West Indies A team, expected to arrive in Bangladesh capital
Friday morning.
Skipper of the ICC trophy champions Bangladesh team Akram Khan lost
the captaincy of the ACC bound team to his deputy Aminul Islam Bulbul
and was also dropped from the squad just five weeks back.
Akram returned to the national team along with opener Harun-ur Rashid
Liton and off spinner Fahim Muntasir Sumit. Brilliant national spinner
cum hard hitting batsman Mohammad Rafique has, however, been dropped
from the team due to injury.
Bangladesh will play their first day-night one-day match against the
West Indies A at Bangabandhu National Stadium where the nine-day Wills
International Cup concluded on November 1. The national team will play
their second one-day match with the tourists in the northern city of
Rajshahi on Monday, and the third and last one-dayer again in Dhaka on
Tuesday.
The only three-day match between Bangladesh and the Caribbean team
will be held Thursday-Saturday, also at the Bangabandhu National
Stadium in Dhaka.
The selected players have been asked to report to team coach Gordon
Greenidge on Friday afternoon at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel. Local coach
Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury will assist Gordon Greenidge, who reportedly
tendered his resignation letter to the BCB and told his boys that he
would not be available after January next. However, both Greenidge and
BCB are saying nothing.

Hossain Biddyut, Faruque Ahmed, Al Shahriar Rokon, Khaled Mashud
