Dolphins inched closer towards securing a place in the playoffs after comprehensively beating Titans by eight wickets in Centurion. Dolphins can now seal qualification by winning at least one of their two remaining games in the group stages.
The victory was set up due to an incisive bowling performance from the Dolphins bowlers, spearheaded by the medium-pacers Mthokozisi Shezi and Robbie Frylinck who each notched two scalps. Titans, put in to bat, could never really gather any momentum throughout the innings, and a flurry of quick wickets saw them slump to 46 for 4 inside nine overs. Farhaan Behardien and Albie Morkel were the team's only major source of runs, chipping in with 31 and 34* respectively, but a low scoring rate meant that Titans could only muster 115 for 7 from their 20 overs. Kyle Abbott, Daryn Smit and Keshav Maharaj each took one wicket as well, to restrict Titans' progress.
Dolphins lost the opener Cameron Delport early, but were never really in any trouble chasing a paltry total as an 84-run second-wicket association between Morne van Wyk and Cody Chetty helped the team overhaul the target in 16.5 overs. Chetty and van Wyk both scored exactly 50, but Chetty's 41-ball effort came to an end in the 16th over as he was dismissed by Saeed Ajmal.
Titans must now beat Knights in their final game, and hope that Warriors succumb to a defeat against Cape Cobras to stand any chance of making it to the semi-finals.
