After choosing to bat first, Australia A lost quick wickets and generally struggled, even though their side included four players with Twenty20 experience in England: the Hussey brothers, Marcus North and Brad Hodge, who won the match award for Leicestershire in the 2004 final. But Hodge was dismissed by Mohammad Khalil for 13 before the two Husseys - Michael and David - steadied the ship. Then a whirlwind partnership between White and David Hussey, who both cracked fiery half-centuries, helped Australia A finish with 185. The Pakistani bowlers conceded 24 sundries, including 10 no-balls, and all of them took a hammering.
Both sides incurred a six-run penalty for a slow over-rate.
