Australia on the verge of a world record
Steve Waugh's Australian team is on the verge of a world record

Steve Waugh's Australian team is on the verge of a world record.
If they win their next Limited Overs International (LOI) match,
they would be the first team to win 12 LOI matches in a row (plus
one abandoned game). No team has been able to perform this
remarkable feat in the history of the game.
The brilliant West Indians hold the record for the most
consecutive wins in LOI matches: they had won 11 matches from
June 1984 to February 1985 without any break. England equalled
their record during the 1991-92 World Cup in Australia. Beginning
from the 1991 season, they won 11 out of the 12 matches from then
on: the one match they did not win was an abandoned game against
Pakistan. However, they would have certainly beaten them, having
bowled Pakistan out for 74. Thus, they might have won 12 matches
in a row.
The others who came closest were West Indies (again!) and South
Africa with 10 consecutive wins each, and West Indies (who else?)
with 9 consecutive wins. The following tables summarize the
results.
